Genie retro font

he flower children of Canada Type are at it again. This time we went above and beyond the call of duty and right into the land of reconstruction in order to make this font. When we saw a few letters from an early 1970s film type called Jefferson Aeroplane, we had the sudden urge to bring their beauty to digital life. But since further research revealed no more letters or information, we just had to "wing" the rest of this Aeroplane. Now this Genie is out of the lava lamp, and it's nothing short of groovy. A few symbols and alternates come within the font, so make sure to check out the very full character set.

Jezebel Font

The Jezebel design was extrapolated from two early 70s film ideas called Hampshire and Harper's Bazaar. Both were uncredited, somewhat badly drawn, almost impossible to typeset satisfactorily, and very limited in character set. It was necessary to go back to the drawing book to explore a better balance and easier setting potential. The subsequent character set expansion took Jezebel to a much superior level of functionality, with the addition of multiple alternates and swashes to fit a perfectionist's eye.

Digital Workflow and Editing in Photoshop Tips

We'll give you a "snapshot" overview of our digital workflow. You should know that all the stratgies we've created in our studio are not new. They are essentially the same as when we shot film. Perfect Exposure Setup

Whether we use a digital or film camera, we need to be able to calculate exposure properly. But first, we need to understand how the aperture and the shutter work together. We also need to know how film handles light, and the relationship between film light sensitivity and f/stops. Written by TJ Tierney.

Understanding Shutter Delay

A shutter delay is defined as the time gap between pressing the shutter button to the camera actually capturing the photo. There is no shutter delay in film cameras as in these cameras the shutter button is virtually connected to the shutter itself and holding down the button results in the camera taking a photo immediately. Written by Ziv Haparnas.

CyberMotion 3D Designer

Wherever we look, we encounter virtual worlds. Whether in Hollywood or daily advertisements, the world that is presented to the viewer will be a mainly artificial creation. At last, you too can create these surreal worlds at home, practice inside or outside architecture, design products or promotional logos and films or build your own virtual worlds using the build in landscape designer and atmospheric background models. All the modules required to generate, model and manipulate, animate and represent the three-dimensional world are integrated into one program: i.e. all actions are controlled directly by CyberMotion. There is a choice of several rendering algorithms, from simple scanline (depth buffer) to up-to-date global illumination rendering methods using raytracing and photon mapping. The possibilities to define object surfaces, light conditions and backgrounds are almost inexhaustible - visual libraries and fast preview windows in the main dialogs invite to experiment and play around with this vast functionality. Complex 3D animations can be set up very easily - you can animate all objects, camera and light settings, backgrounds, fire, water and even clouds and fog in the atmosphere. You can arrange objects in hierarchies to animate jointed models or robots and easily position joints with the help of Inverse Kinematics. And with the up to date Skin and Bones technology even character animation is available with CyberMotion. Call your own heroes and monsters into being, CyberMotion gives you all the tools you need to do it.

Correct Light Readings in Photography

In order to correctly expose your film or digital CCD there are two variables that must be identified: average reflectance and average light. Unless you have some good reason to meter for other than these two averages, stick meticulously to this method. Written by Laurie McArthur.

Aperture and Shutter Speed

Shutter speed and aperture values are at a constant tug-of-war concerning light. Shutter speed refers to the amount of time that the film, or in the case of a digital SLR, how long the image sensor is exposed to light. The aperture setting of a camera refers to the amount of light that is let into the camera body by the lens. Written by Larry Huckabee.

Low Light Photography

Images, whether from film or digital cameras, need one ingredient... light. How then can photographers get good images in low light conditions? Using flash would be one way. But even the most dimly lit scene has some light - and that means the potential for a great photo! Written by Eric Hartwell.

Reduce Red-Eye in Photography

The simplest explanation I've come across is that red-eye is the reflection of light, in our case the flash, through the open retina of the eye. We've all seen it's effects in the glowing red eyes of animals, kids and adults that have been captured on film using flash photography. Written by Wes Waddell.
