Making planets look realistic is annoying as hell, as they are just a mixture of water, earth and cloud effects seen from a great distance, but it can be done. From this tutorial I'll show you how to create a basic moon from scratch, then how to add colours to it and make it look like the earth. You can use the knowledge from this to go and create the sun (well, it's actually a star, but yea) or any other planet you want. Adding the shadows is the most important factor in this tutorial.
